Southwest Neighborhood Assembly Scholarships
For Washington DC students, The scholarship is available for students who will
attend college, community college or a trade school. The deadline is late June.

Dorothy West Scholarship at Simon’s Rock College
Minority students with demonstrated financial need are eligible to apply for the
Dorothy West Scholarship. This scholarship covers tuition and room and board.
The deadline is mid April. A number of runners-up will also be chosen and will

Donelson Scholarship of the Halifax County, MA Board of Selectmen
The Board of Selectmen will award the Donelson Scholarship in the spring. The
deadline for applications is mid May. Any resident of Halifax, Massachusetts
under the age of 25 years as of June 30, who is enrolled in a postsecondary
institution and/or program accredited by accrediting agencies or state approval
agencies recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and who is majoring in
business or a related field is eligible to apply. One award of $250 will be made.

Spectrum Awards & Prism Awards
The Spectrum awards are a competition of architects and other design
professionals whose projects demonstrate creativity and achievement in use of
tile in residential and commercial design. The Prism Stone in Architecture
Awards competition celebrates creativity and achievement in the use of Natural

JKCF Scholarships for Community College Students and Recent Alumni
Available
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation (http://www.jkcf.org/ )offers scholarships to
students and recent alumni from community colleges. Through the
Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program, the scholarship foundation will
award up to $30,000 annually per recipient to help students and recent alumni
from community and two-year institutions pursue four-year degrees at any
accredited college or university in the United States and abroad. It will renew
awards each year based upon student performance. All candidates for the
scholarship must be nominated by the faculty representative at their community
or two-year institution. (early January deadline)

Capitol Fellowship Program
U.S. Capitol Historical Society is accepting applications for the Capitol
Fellowship Program. The fellowship is for research in history of art and
architecture in U.S. Capitol and related buildings. The fellowship offers $2,000
/month stipend for one month to one year. Applications must be postmarked by

State Government Internship Program for summer
The N.C. State Government Internship Program (http://doa.state.nc.
us/yaio/intern.htm) will offer paid summer internship opportunities in state
government agencies for students in all majors. The program is part of the
Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office of the N.C. Department of
Administration.
• Internships for all majors are available in various state agencies located
throughout the state.
• Eligible students are legal residents of N.C. with at least a 2.5 GPA on a
4.0 scale.

The Commonwealth Fund/Harvard University Fellowship in Minority
Health Policy (CFHUF).
The fellowship is designed to prepare physicians, particularly minority
physicians, for leadership roles in formulating and implementing public health
policy and practice on a national, state, or community level. Five one-year,
degree-granting fellowships will be awarded per year. Fellows will complete
academic work leading to a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at the
Harvard School of Public Health, and, through additional program activities, gain
experience in and understanding of major health issues facing minority,
disadvantaged, and underserved populations. CFHUF also offers a Master of
Public Administration (MPA) degree at John F. Kennedy School of Government
to physicians possessing an MPH. It is expected that CFHUF will support the
development of a cadre of leaders in minority health, well-trained academically
and professionally in public health, health policy, health management, and
clinical medicine, as well as actively committed to careers in public service.

Pst-Telegram Internships
The Press-Telegram offers an internship program to coincide with the summer
terms of Southern California colleges and universities. Interns can work for the
city, copy, design, editorial, sports, online and photo desks in exchange for
college credit and a $300 stipend. Interns typically work two, seven-hour shifts a
week. Only applicants from Southern California will be considered. Interns
should have experience and clips from a college newspaper. The Press-
Telegram conducts a criminal background check of all candidates, as well as a

Alyeska Pipeline Service Company: "Building Foundations for
Excellence Program" (BFEP)
Alyeska Human Resources has developed "Building Foundations for Excellence
Program" (BFEP), an employee development program. Recruitment efforts will
target the Company's Alaska Native Utilization Agreement and Affirmative Action
Program goals. BFEP will involve a defined, six- to 24-month combination
training and work experience during which participants acquire new skills and
learn to apply them along with existing skills to specified job requirements.
Participants who successfully complete their development experiences will be
placed into regular positions at Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, Alyeska's
contractors, or Owner Companies.

Each applicant must be an OBAP member in good standing and may apply for
no more than two scholarships. These requirements are in addition to all stated
specific requirements for that particular scholarship. Many factors are
considered when scholarship selections are made. Some of the factors are but
not limited to the following; Achievements, attitude toward others, commitment to
success, financial need, and responsibility.

The Organization of Black Airline Pilots, Inc. (OBAP) will award $4000 each to
deserving individuals to further their career in the aviation industry. The training
